Questions, answered plainly
The things people ask us most before they hire an investigator for the first time.
UpdatedHiring an investigator
Do I need a licensed private investigator in Arizona?
Yes, if someone is being paid to investigate for you. Arizona requires private investigators and agencies to be licensed through the Department of Public Safety. Blue Copper holds Arizona Private Investigation Agency License #1803086.
Is what I tell you confidential?
Yes. What you share stays with us whether or not you hire us, and you decide how and when we contact you.
How much does a private investigator cost?
It depends on the type of case and the time it takes, so we do not publish prices. The first consultation is free, and you will know the likely cost before any work begins.
How fast will you get back to me?
Usually within 24 business hours of a case briefing, and sooner for urgent cases. If it cannot wait, call (602) 456-1771.
Can a private investigator follow someone?
Yes, in public places and within the law. Investigators cannot trespass, enter private property, record private conversations or put a tracker on a vehicle without the owner's consent.
What makes surveillance difficult, and can you handle it?
Careful subjects, rural roads with no cover, gated communities and short windows are what make surveillance hard. Those cases are our specialty, and they come down to planning and experience.
Can you serve someone who is avoiding service?
Yes. Hard-to-serve recipients are a specialty. We locate people who have moved, vary our attempts and use discreet stakeouts when needed, and you receive a Proof of Service. Routine service takes 3 to 5 days and rush service 1 to 2 days; notarization is an optional extra.
Will my evidence hold up in court?
Evidence gathered lawfully and documented carefully is what courts rely on. Our reports include dates, times, photos and video, and we can testify to what we observed. Your attorney decides how to use it.
Do I have to meet you in person?
No. Consultations can be in person at our Goodyear office or online.
Do you work with attorneys?
Yes. Much of our work is for family law, civil and criminal defense attorneys, and we are glad to coordinate with yours.
Not sure where to start? That is normal.
Tell us what is going on in a confidential case briefing, or call. A licensed investigator reviews every one.
